The Shulers as a family have a long history of supporting their community by providing quality veterinary care. In 1953 Dr. Lanier Shuler (pictured, seated), an Auburn graduate, started it all by opening his clinic in St. George, South Carolina to provide services for small and large animals. His son Glen Shuler (pictured, standing on the far left) joined him in practice in 1984, after graduating from UGA

Dr. J.O. Shuler (not pictured) opened Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital in 1959 after graduating from The University of Georgia.  His was the first full time veterinary hospital in the town of Mt. Pleasant, SC, near Charleston. It possessed the first x-ray unit “east of the Cooper” and was used in emergencies for people and pets! Ken (K.C.) Shuler joined his uncle J.O. in 1968. K.C. Shuler (pictured, on the left), a University of Georgia graduate, expanded the business by building Shuler Veterinary Clinic, also in Mt. Pleasant in 1992. It was a good thing he did, too, as his two sons, as well as their wives, all became veterinarians! Kevin and Laura Shuler (pictured, standing on the right), Tuskegee graduates, practice at the two clinics in Mt. Pleasant. Joining them is Dr. Marion Shuler-Holladay (pictured, bride), a University of Georgia graduate, who is the niece of Dr. Glen Shuler of St. George.

Kenneth and Heather Shuler (pictured, standing in the center) have been practicing in Santee since 2002. They are graduates of the University of Georgia, School of Veterinary Medicine, and both have undergraduate degrees from Clemson University. By the way, ties run deep throughout the whole Shuler family to Clemson University. So don’t be surprised by a discreetly placed orange paw print here or there.
The Shulers are indeed a unique family. While cherishing and maintaining their roots in agriculture and farming, they individually and collectively have the highest commitment to the practice of modern veterinary medicine.
Drs. Heather and Kenneth Shuler are proud of their heritage in both the veterinary profession and in the community in which they live and work.  Their pledge is to continue the long family history of providing the highest of quality veterinary care.
